my driftwood/mopani has been in my tank for 1.5 years now, and is pretty much covered in green spot algae. i dunno if it's possible, but is there any way to remove the driftwood and return it to near original condition
thanks, b

isn't green spot the crusty stuff? my first thought was water, a wire brush and a lot of scrubbing, but that might not be enough if it's the crusty stuff. might need to get a planer or something and take off the outermost layer of wood.... someone else might have a better idea though ;)

You could bleach it. Then rinse it really well, then soak it in water that has been overdosed with dechlor. One last rinse, a sniff test (if you can't smell bleach it's good to go) and right back in the tank. Although IMO driftwood covered with algea looks awesome, but I like my tanks a little on the wild side.
