Dumb ?? Quick answer please.

I just set up a 10 gallon tank for my son. It came with eclipse 1 hood. Here's the dumb ? Which way does the filter media go . It seems to fit both ways.

It will work either way. Its main purpose is a "bed" for bacteria to grow, which will break down fish waste. I assume you are new to the hobbie, so I will direct you to the sticky at the top of the newbie forrum labled "cycle", also the one about inch per gallon myth, and read this before getting fish. Many folks start this hobby without doing much research, and the animals are the ones to suffer. I do not want to head you off, on the contrary, there is much information on tis site that will help you care for your critters as best you can

If it's supposed to lie flat, then the blue side goes up. If it fits in vertically, then the blue side goes to the back.

The blue has to be the side that meets the water.
