I am looking at adding a school of Dwarf chain loaches to my tank and wondered if they get stressed as the tank they would be going into have rather boisterous fish.

There tank mates would be:-
Clown loaches
oto's
congo tetras
pristella tetras
geo's
ghost knife
cockoo catfish
cories

The tank is planted, driftwood and sand substrate.

Cheers

I would research more about BKGs cause when they grow some they will be dining on some of your other choices.

I would also bet that clowns and bkg could battle as they both will want the same spots for hiding.

Sids are pretty active themselves.

I can answer about some of your fish, I kept a shoal of 42 sids with 3 clown loaches, 6 cories and 7 otos, and 12 ember tetras. Any kind of cory and tetra should be just fine. I believe the geos are very peaceful fish. Don't know about the ghost knife though.

The BKG has never been a problem he is currently 14" and I have never had any problems with him he leaves all the other fish alone. He is fed by hand so never goes looking for food elsewhere. As for doing battle with the clown loaches they actually sleep together. Believe me a pile of clowns lying over a BGK is a sight to see.

Another question how many would be a good minimum, I do have plenty of room as they will be in a 180g tank.

what is the scientific name of Dwarf Chain Loaches?

LOL! Once you get used to the name, it won't be a problem.:D

TTA, I never have problems with my clown loaches and BGK kept together. I don't think that is an issue. At least in my experience, they never have issues with each other. If anything, both species learn to respect their territories.

The only issue I see here is Deb's BGK will potentially consume the smaller tankmates especially tetras. These are predatory fish and will not hesitate to consume the tetras.
