Alright, I bought 3 dwarf frogs to add to my 30 gallon. I know these frogs need extremely good water conditions and no chlorine so I tested my nitrates and ph before I got them. Everything was good as usual. So I bought the frogs, put them in my tank and they were swimming like crazy, I thought that they must be really active because Ive never owned them before. After 4 days, all three died.
I think they died because i have pretty strong water currents in my tank. I have an air pump that is recommended for up to 50 gallons and it doesnt power a filter or anything. The whole back of my tank is a a layer of bubbles and I have bubbles coming up from 2 decorations. I also have a hang on power filter. Do you think that these frogs died becasue they had to use so much effort to swim against the water currents just to get air and wernt able to just lie around. I cant think what else it could be. They were able to eat because I dropped the food inside this decoration where there were no water currents. Also, are too much currents bad for my fish?

THANKS

I have kept dwarf frogs for many years w/out any problems. If your water conditiond are good, Im sure they werent eating enough. Some people have a hard time getting them to eat. What were you feeding them? Mine ate frozen blood worms and thrived.

i have to agree that i don't believe water current had anything to do with it. i have never had that problem.

i would have say that they starved to death......but four of them at the same time......i doubt it. frozen bloodworms & frozen brine shrimp are they way to go when feeding. stick it to the glass in the same place every time. once it thaws a little, it will drop to the bottom in a nice chunk that they then have a fighting chance at getting to. they're pretty dumb & slow when it comes to finding foodm so having it drop it the same proximity really helps.

must not have been very healthy to begin with. doesn't your lfs have some sort of wellness guarantee?

ya know, I have had a dwarf frog in my 55G for darn close to a year, and I have no clue as to how he finds food, not that dont attempt to feed him, but, he is fat and happy.
I also, however, have had the strange death happen in the frog family.
My g/f has a tank as well, that I maintain. I got her a frog, it was happy and fine untill one day it just floated to the surface belly up. No reason, water parameters fine.
I dunno what to tell ya really. Sounds like a bad batch, honestly, since all of them died.
Everyone else in your tank doin ok?

ADF's will not starve to death in 4 days.

They can go quite a LONG time w/o food - longer than a fish. They have no problem eating a big meal and then going for awhile w/o eating again.

I'd feed frozen bloodworms using a turkey baster to aim at them if you get anymore. COuld be a bad batch. Were they juveniles or near-adults when you got them?

What fish did you keep them with.

Could they get to the surface to breathe? Was there open space above the tank and the cover assuming it is covered?

i am helping a freind with my old ten gallon tank and one day his favorite thing in there the frog bouncy (dont ask) died for no reason

they were with only corys. Im not sure how old they were but petsmart sells ouit quick so I think they were a young unless they were old from the supplier. Do you think it could be the switch of food that killed them because I dont know what they were feeding them at the store.
