Dwarf Gourami and jumping

I had a thread in the freshwater newbie section with a bunch of questions about dwarf gourami. I'm curious how prone they are to jumping, since I hadn't been using a hood (I am for the moment just to be safe, which isn't ideal for my plants since it only takes a 15 watt fluorescent bulb). I haven't really found much about this on the net, so I'm starting to think they aren't particularly avid jumpers. Any thoughts, experiences?

Years ago I had swordtails that would manage to jump out even with the hood on every now and then, so that experience has given me cause for concern.

All my tanks are "topless". I have not had an issue with jumping fish yet, but I do know my golden barbs jump but never out of the tank---just a surface splash.

So it's relatively safe to go topless with dwarf gourami? I've never had problems with my neon tetras jumping, so I'm not too worried about them.

dwarf gouramis will jump if startled, but they are not as bad a s swordtails.

I have seen my gourami get startled, he usually darts one direction or another very quickly, sometimes sideways. He's a little prone to startling himself due to a deep fascination with his own reflection.

In the end I'll probably set up some sort of glass or acrylic cover.
