My newly aquired Dwarf Gourami has a small pinkish bump near his mouth, and around it the skin/scales look a bit raw and ragged. Almost like he got into a fist-fight. +) Anyway, anyone seen this before? I have noticed that he sometimes attacks the side of the tank (I think he sees his reflection, and thinks its another male)

Hes in my 5g Eclipse quarantine tank at the moment with 2 corys waiting in QT also. He is vibrantly colored and active, eating well, and otherwise appears perfect. Just that small area about the size of two grains of rice on his chin/lower lip. Tank water is brand new, no ammonia, no nitrates, no nitrites, PH is about 7.1, temp around 73F, give or take a degree. Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have searched (Google) for 2 hours now to no avail. Please, anyone who keeps Dwarf gouramis, take a look at thier mouths and see if the skin/scales around the lower lip looks "roughed up" in any way. Maybe this is the way its supposed to look. He is very active and colorful, and doesnt appear sick, injured or shy at all. Thanks again.

I have 2 powder blue Dward Gouramis and neither of them have anything like what you described. Maybe he scratched himself on an ornament or the gravel. If he did then maybe the area around the wound is a little infected or irritated.

I had a dwarf gourami with the same thing, only it was up on his head instead of by his mouth. I didn't know what is was then, nor do I know what it is now. I just ignored it hoping it would go away, but it never did. The gourami later died and I have never replaced it. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, but good luck diagnosing and treating it!

Thanks to all who replied, looks like lymphoma (Sp) I think.. Not good.
