I'm planning on going to PetSmart this weekend to pick up a Dwarf Gourami for my 10 gallon tank that's been running for a while now with a few female guppies.

I was wondering what fish will go well with dwarf gouramis..I'm planning on getting rid of the guppies to make room for it. How can I know which dwarf gourami is the most healthiest ( no diseases ). What are some decors that will satisfy the gourami? I have 3 fake plants and a house with windows the fish can go into.

I've never kept gouramis, but I believe they're middle-to-top dwellers, so 5 or 6 little bottom dwelling cory cats would fill out the tank nicely. You may want to get a couple more silk plants and make sure the gravel is fairly smooth for them.

Since it's Petsmart, you probably won't be able to see if it's eating, so I would say just make sure the fish looks active and alert, no cloudy eyes, and color is good.

Gourami enjoy floating plants. You can use fake or real.

If you do corydoras catfish, you could possibly fit 4 standard sized (grow out to 2-3") such as peppered/paleatus, bronze/aeneus, or pandas but they'd be better off in a longer tank. Now if you can find dwarf cories (habrosus, hastatus or pygmaeus - max out at 1" size) you could have 6-8 with the dwarf gourami.
