My Bat Cave somwhere in TX
I got some dwarf hair grass today. I'm going to use some organic potting soil and my light is a 24'' t8 17w. how much soil do i need all the way across the tank? Do I need to cap it with something? no co2.

I have no experience with it but have been told the same rules apply as mineralized soil. I've been told to use Miracle grow organic screening out the large debris which I can plans to do just haven't had the time. Post some pics of your progress would like to see how you make out.

Yay, a dirted tank! ^^ About 1" of dirt capped with 1" gravel is correct. If your gravel is quite large in diameter, you might have to cap with a bit over 1" and remove some gravel once the dirt becomes completely waterlogged, if you want. That's what I do, since I have larger gravel yet prefer a thin cap for easier planting.

Hairgrass should love the dirt but I'm not so sure you have enough light for it. I'd really like to see if it survives in your tank.
