Dwarf Hair Grass

So, I'm interested in this stuff and have done a little research.
I read that it requires medium to very high lighting and thats its not too difficult to manage other than the fact that it attracts algae.
Is this true?
Is there anything else I should know?

The part about being easy to grow is true. It is the only plant in my tank that has not been trimmed, moved, or thrown out. It does attract algea, but it seems to only do so when my Co2 begins to run out(DIY), and/or the pennywort takes over the top of the tank.

BTW, my tank is a 29 gal., with DIY Co2, and a 110 Watt PC light.

We'll be putting it in the 90Gal. tank and will be adding CO2. I think the lighting we got is 260Watts (I'm pretty sure) so will that work?

They should do fine in that light, especially if it's PC fluorescent.

I think it is. I'm not the smartest at this equipment stuff. But its a Coralife light unit if that helps any.

I had a problem with rosy barbs and dwarf hair grass. They kept eating the new sprouts and would not fill out. However, once i removed them it was very quick to take over my tank. I also have the same problem with algae once my DIY runs low.

The hair grass is like a perfect indicator of Co2 levels. With a fresh bottle, it is bright green and lookin good. As the Co2 lowers, the grass becomes a dingy brown, allmost overnight. Put on a new bottle, and *PooF*, in a matter of hours, the grass is the bright green again! :dance

That is a tip worth remembering.

It has shallow roots and likes a soft, fine substrate. It spreads fairly slowly. It uproots easily until it becomes well established. If you have digger, bottom feeders, it's gonna drive you insane!
