I never expected it to get as big as it has. Turned out to be a nice show plant but I can't seem to find much info on it. I bought it as a pink dwarf lily.

Yeah, I've got one too. It was just called 'dwarf lily' and it's starting to get pretty big. Beautiful plant though, especially all covered in bubbles. I probably wouldn't have bought it but the manager offered me a huger bulb with at least 4 (I think it turned out to be 5) spots for plants to sprout from for $3, so I figured I had to try it out. Glad I did.

On a practical note, I can't find much on it either, but he told me that a while after its leaves reached the surface it would flower, after flowering it would go dormant. The best way to stave off dormancy, according to him, was to prune off the leaves that were getting to the top. Although he suggested that it would still need to go dormant at some time.

Nymphaea?

I had one of these once. It took over the tank. Grew very fast. Started floating leaves and was very beautiful. But in the end it just shaded things too much. As it reached the top it gave up all it's lower leaves and ruined the water chemistry.

So keep an eye on it.

When it goes dormant does it lose all it's leaves? Anything I need to do to get it through dormancy without damaging the plant?

It looks like a red tiger lotus???

I saw the bare bulbs at my lfs a few months ago. Yes, they went dormant and the lfs threw them in a tank on top of the substrate, and now all are sprouting again about 3 months later. I have green tiger lotus that came with roots, no bulb. I assume they grow the bulb in time. If you want more leaves, cut the ones that approach the top. If you'd like it to flower, you have to tolerate the shading of your other plants. But its pretty!!!

I would imagine that it needs the same as apons to make it through dormancy, when it will lose all its leaves. As long as its growing season provided it with plenty of nutrients it will have plenty stored up in the bulb to use when it reawakens.
