I fed my puffer some defrozen bloodworms as a treat. He loves them. I didn't notice until later that one of the bloodworms seemed a bit too big for him. Being the little piggy he is my puffer went straight for that one and attempted to suck it up. Since the bloodworm was too large for him he was only able to eat about 2/3. However the last 1/3 is still hanging out of his mouth. It has been that way for the past ten minutes. Does he have the ability to just bite his end off and let the other end go? He looks pretty wierd and all the shrimp are starting to chase him for the food.

they have the ability to chew on part of a worm while holding the rest of the worm in their mouth. think of it as having teeth in your throat... your mouth just becomes Tupperware.

he's probably just not hungry and is carrying it around til he is.. either that or he really swallowed too much and is holding it until he has chewed the rest/ makes room to shove it down his throat.

not exactly the kind of guys you need to get the fine silver out for. lol.

My two do the same thing. I'm expecting one day they'll do the 100 Dalmations spaghetti thing, both grabbing different ends of the same worm/noodle. :hearts:

"Lady and the Tramp".....Oh man really messed that one up can't recover ....ever oh man pwned

My cories have done the Lady and the Tramp thing with a bloodworm! Little piggies.....

lol thanks for all the great replies. I guess I worried over nothing. My puffer just came away from this experience very fat. A very happy fat puffer though.

And my puffer was doing the Lady and the Tramp thing with two shrimp on the other end. Should I be worried ;)

Good heavens but dps can shovel it in. I swear its a race to see who can cram the most in first. But if one of mine leaves even so much as a hint of bloodworm hanging out of the mouth, the rest are off to see which of them can pull it out and gobble it first. I end up watching a mass of fat puffers trolling around the one with the food while it's booking for a hiding spot. These guys are my favorite fish ever.
