Is there a reason for that? Are you just looking for another critter to add to the tank? There aren't too many fish that won't eat shrimp, especially if there's a second parameter that they eat snails. Anything that could eat a snail can eat a shrimp. Catfish are opportunistic feeders and will eat just about whatever fits in their mouth, and shrimp will. Loaches are known to eat snails. But even the smaller ones such as botia sidthimunki will eat shrimp. In general fish and shrimp don't mix well. I would really consider the assassin snails if you won't remove by hand.
What type of shrimp are you planning on keeping by the way?
How about sids (botia sidthimunki) ? I know they eat rams horns, not sure how they would coexist with inverts. Good luck.

If you keep the feeding to a minimum the snails won't reproduce too much. Also depending on the shrimp, some species don't breed as fast as others. RCS typically breed easily but not all species will. You can also sell any excess shrimp. A little extra money never hurt anyone lol.

If the main goal of the tank is to keeping shrimp, then not adding something that is going to snack on adults is the best option. Especially because chances are that offspring are also on the menu and you then lose that source keeping the colony viable...
In larger tanks, people can sometimes do enough to increase their survival (ie. more plants and hardscape) but fish are going to eat whatever they can find. So realistically the only 100% way to make sure that not all of them are eaten is by making sure that none are eaten in the first place.
I'd suggest either manual removal (not all that time consuming with inverts) or getting shrimp/snails that don't reproduce in FW.
If the point if an invert tank is to enjoy watching the shrimp/snails... Introducing a predator will be... Counterproductive. It won't matter much how many shrimp survive when they are all hiding from the zebra loach swimming around your tank. it doesn't even matter if the fish is a predator... I had an EMBER TETRA in my shrimp tank for a while... And it was like all the shrimp were put on their best behavior... I.e. boring behavior.. Nobody swimming around the tank.. Clinging to duckweed from the surface until it slowly sank to the bottom.. If I saw them at all they were content under the driftwood or in the moss. Even if fish can't fit the shrimp in their mouth, they will try. That said.. You can have a TON of shrimp in a 10 gal... Its a fun show.

True. I was going to move my newts into the tank ... I am guessing that would make the shrimp run for cover as well?
For sure. I just wouldn't be concerned about the shrimp population. If it ever did get out if hand... Take them to a LFS for credit.. They sell RCS for 5 bucks at mine.. Even if they only give 20% credit.. It'll pay for fish food. And if they don't want them, net them and give then add treats in your other tanks haha...
