Eating Aquarium Fish

Just a question here...I don't actually eat my aquarium fish. But, the bottle of Stress Coat that I have says, "Not intended for use on fish meant for human consumption." Why is this? Does it add something permanent to the fish? A lot of us, even though we don't like to admit it, have been talked into swallowing live goldfish (generally in our college years). I'm just curious what 'thing' takes place that the fish is no longer edible once treated with anything. If, for example, someone had a largemouth bass in their home aquarium, and it got too big...couldn't it be moved to a 'clean water' tank for a few days before consumption?

Again, I have no desire to eat my pets, but the question is always there. Especially when people come over who don't keep fish...they always say something like, "Hey, that one looks like he's ready for the frying pan, can I?" So I'm just curious of what the dangers in eating them would really be...if someone were so inclined.

well, I think the idea is that you dont generally want to introduce chemicals into your body that have not been tested.
I personally dont want to be ingesting aloe or potassium somethingorother
Mostly they do it just to cover themselves from the would-be-idiots that could attempt to sue because they wanted to munch on a goldfish that was swimming in that chemical.
Dont laugh, it happens.
Recently someone drove off the highway around here cause they werent paying attention. They blamed the highways ministry becuase they said there werent enough warnings and barriers to stop people from driving off the road.
they sued and won 7 million dollars.
ah the justice system, blame someone else cause your stupid, and you can win!
and lastly, I do believe that you are supposed to drive when you are in a car no?
*steps off soapbox*
lol:D

more than anything, this is it. You will probably find similar warnings on any aquarium product that hasn't been FDA tested and approved for consumption. Some things stay, some things go, but all in all it boils down to liability issues and FDA approval. I've seen a couple of groupers in marine tanks that would have looked good on the grill, but I wouldn't do that to someones pet either.

:( Mabey That Is why i got sick when i made tea with the" fish tank filler upper"

To be honest, I was never in a fraternity as I always looked at them as people who have extremely low self esteem. I didn't need external validation in college (thank God) and I had pride in my studies. You can have friends and even start your own circle (group of people) with common interests but a fraternity? Ahh..no.

JMO from my college days. :p

I've had Discus before from my tanks.

I did 12 gold fish in 10 minutes for a bet of $500. Let’s see here, we eat raw stake, tuna, salmon, and a lot more. But that was the days of drinking all you could all day long. By the way I was in chef school, that’s why we ate a lot of odd stuff.
