My LFS was selling Echinodorus argentinensis and spathiphyllum wallisii, I had never heard of either so I looked them up online and still couldn't find any info. Are these two plants trully aquatic?

P.S. They called them argentine sword and umbrella plant.

Echinodorus is the sword plant genus. This plant can do well both submersed and emersed. Spathiphyllum (or peace lilly) is not a true aquatic plant and will most likely die in a couple months if completely emersed. This plant is typically found in wet areas of forests with the top half of the plant out of water which is why it does very good in a glass bowl with it's roots in the water.

If you do a google search for the genus of both you will find alot of information about them. Sword plants are probably the most common plant found in stores. Good luck.
