effects of daphnia with a UV sterilizer

What are your thoughts on using a UV sterilzer and live food like daphnia?

Very doubtful that a UV will kill multicellular critters like Daphnia. It will kill the single cell algae and bacteria that the Daphnia eat. Consider that a typical UV sterilizer used as directed by the manufacturer will usually fail to kill a unicellular protozoa like Ich. Multicellular critters are much tougher to kill with UV.

Since almost no hobbyist sets a UV unit up correctly (correctly sized and plumbed for their tank) live food should be fine.
