I am about to buy my first large tank 120 gal. Is the Eheim 2128 a good choice. Should I be worried about the internal heater? Any need for external heater? Thanks
Very good Filter. I have the 2026 and it is great. I would get an external heater and buy the 2028 without the thermolifter. In my opinion it is much cheaper to just get an external heater but eaither way you should be happy. It's really up to you but, Eheim is the best you can get.
I'm using an Eheim 2028 on a 90g, and I must say, it works wonders
No need for the 2128, as it costs extra for the inline heater, you could always just buy an external heater and cover it up with some live plants or something.
I too am considering a 2028, but I am wondering if it is worth all the extra money for a Eheim as compared to other canister filters which are considerably cheaper, like the Fluval or the Filstar.
Has anybody had experience with more than one brand?
Not to steal this thread off of its creator, but what about the other issues such as: durability, reliability, ease of filter cleaning, ease of priming, and so on. I plan on putting the filter behind closed doors in a cabinet anyway so quiet vs silent isn't too huge and issue.
from what I have heard the fluvals must be treated with kid gloves to keep them working the way they came. the plastic in them isn't that structurally strong and if it doesn't line up right and you push on it abit they sometimes break or fail to make a watertight seal
I haven't heard anything like that about the ehiems and they have more reports of running for decades without problems.
