Eheim Ecco STRANGE NOISES!

I've had the Ecco 2236 for almost six months. I have cleaned the filter once (recommended every 3-4 months), and it's run like a champ. Recently however, about every 5-6 minutes I hear a whooshing sound. If anyone has one of these filters, do you know what that sound indicates? Nothing in the maintenance section regarding cleaning the filter or maintaining the pump head says anything about a rushing water sound. I'll contact Eheim if no one has ever had this experience. Other than this, my other Ecco running a 29 gallon tank is wonderful. These filters are so simple to set up, clean, and run that I'd recommend them to anyone starting out with cannisters.

I have a 2236 also and have heard this sound Ive noticed it happens mainly if I bump the filter.

In general I dont think its anything to worry about.

Thank you for your posts. Since I have no areation nearby and the cannister is in a cupboard, I guess the sensible thing to do is to clean the filter! After all, it has been 3 months! We'll see if the whooshing noise stops after that.

mine does that every time after I service the filter, I just rock ( shake ) the filter while it's running until all the trapped air is gone ^_^ works every time
