There appears to be three versions, Eheim, Eheim w/filter, and Eheim w/filter + installation kit or promo. What is the installation kit?

If I am not mistaken there are Installation kits 1+2. The “installation kit” refers to the uptake tube & spray bar, and are usually included with any of the packages (though the ecco does not come with a spraybar). You can get some packages that incled only the mech and/or substrate, some that also include only the filter pads. For the pro II I think you should only need the blue and white filter pads and some substrate (bio-media), and of course the installation kits. FYI… I recently got an absolutely stellar deal on a coupler of classics from DR. Foster& Smith, might want to check them out.
