Eheim Users: couple questions

New to the Eheim filter. Got a 2215 that I'm using in conjunction with a Rex Grigg home-made CO2 reactor.

1. When I filled the filter with the included media it didn't come all the way up to the top. (about a 2 inch space gap from the top of the media to the bottom of the motor housing) Is this ok, or do I need to stuff it to the top?

2. Water inlet (bottom elbow) on the filter looks like it is made to rotate around to allow hose to reach the best angle. Is it a simple O-Ring stopping leakage on this part? Anything to worry about here?

3. What is recommended regarding the use of the spraybar endcap? Not sure if I should ditch it or put it to use.

Aside from those questions, I was able to prime it easily with no hose leakage. Thanks!

1) Fill it up from the bottom to the top with the ceramic rings,then the blue pad,then the substrat pro,then the white pad. Any room left is fine.

2)What ever angle works for your set up is fine.

3)Put the end cap on the spray bar.

that's your call. I've varied mine from surface, to above surface, to vertical, to mid-tank, to bottom. It all depends on what you want and need for your setup.

The water inlet tube screws into the canister. If you're going to loosen it to adjust the angle I'd take it out and wrap some teflon tale around the end of the threads as a precaution.

i prefer to buy the hook shaped hard plastic pipe and use that as an outlet. it hangs nicely on the edge of my aquarium, never been a fan of those 90 degree elbow things that come with the cannister....

if you dont want surface movement at all (planted tank for example), then position the spray bar away from the surface and turn the spray holes downward slightly, so even after evaporation there will still be no movement.

For regular non planted tank, you probably want it close to the top to get plenty of water movement for gas exchange. Eheims are the best, i have the canister, feeder, and pump. None has ever failed me.
