I just put two of these in my 37g tank, the fish store I go to (trpoiquarium, if any of you guys are from jersey) told me they will be fine with the other fish and plants. But after looking them up on the internet I am not sure. What do you guys think? I really like the two, they seem to be very shy and dont bother the other fish. Thanks for the help!

IMO a 37g is kinda small for EBJDs, especially 2. I had one in my 30 but it didn't work out. But to answer your question you can have blue gouramis, catfish, loaches, basically any medium sized semi-aggressive fish. Make sure you have territories set up because they are very territorial fish.

37 is way too small for a pair of JD's, unless you can get them into a larger tank later on.

You will probably have territorial issues as they grow, and they will eat pretty much anything they can fit in their mouths. They are less aggressive than regular JD's in general, but they are still cichlids.

you can keep one in that 37- but must be vigilant about wc and parameters, etc. Either return one or put the other in a tank of at least the same size.
