Elusive Rainbow Cichlids

Of all the fish I've kept, Rainbow Cichlids may be the hardest to catch. I have given on trying to net them out of my heavily planted tank and have no luck with the soda bottle trap method.
I manage to catch every other fish but the Rainbows with the trap, no matter how long I leave it in the tank.
These guys are smart and skittish.
Has anyone else tried or hopefully succeeded in catching them without ripping out the plants or emptying the tank?

When i need to net an elusive fish i use 2 nets. Ill chase them with one net and catch then with the other. With that technic ive successfully caught a whole school of neons ( 8 neons at that time).

Try netting them out in the middle of the night, they're a little more sluggish than usual
