Emersed first try, with a twist?

Hey FC, i know this is such an old thread but im looking into emersed and was wondering what ever happened with this?

Well... I ended up getting impatient. I also ended up buying some ADA Aquasoil and fancy rocks, and threw together a moderate-tech tank with diy CO2 and my 26w "robocop" Hampton Bay light.

Here's some pics before the glosso got super-stemmy, dwarf sag exploded, the diy CO2 got snotty and generally got me very :irked:.

By all means, I encourage people to go for emersed growth - it's much faster! If I had the resources & space, I'd do an emersed crypt tank. I know TPT has tons of emersed examples... it's pretty easy, so long as you're okay with waiting on the h20 (& fish!)...

Aw, I miss this set up... it looked really pretty, once upon a time. *sniff*

It looked great... I can envision it all growing in nicely for you, to bad it went south on you. Glosso getting tall instead of spreading is a sign of not enough light from my experience I've had my share of little bushes in the past....LOL

Oh and my glosso did terrible in aquasoil did great in SMS go figure...

Thanks Jay, the glosso frustrated me because I'd seen so many set ups like mine with nice glosso carpets... Blah.

Going back to emersd growth, I'd definitely recommend adding root tabs or osmocote under the sand right away, or go with ADA aquasoil. Results will be better, IMO.
