Ok well everyone here knows tank theorys like a 3 second memory or the no pain theory. Well obviously both have been proven to not be true. But what about the emotion part. Do you think fish have emotions? For example if a convict cichlid breeding pair is made, then they spawn a few times, then the male dies. Would the female mourn? Feel bad?
Post your thoughts, ideas, proof, comments about this theory

I think they do since although fish are pretty much the first vertebrate species of this world, they still are extremely evolved. I dont think an animal this intelligent and evolved wont have emotions.

i know for a fact that fish mourn.. i had 2 feeder goldfish that lived with me for nearly 10 years, i pretty much grew up with them, and when one died, the other was not the same fish, if you catch my drift... he darted back and forth all day every day for almost a month.. he finally calmed down but was never the lively fish that he once was with his 'brother'. he died about 6 months later..

this may seem weird to you guys, but i found it cool.. when the first fish died, i knew they needed to be together forever.. so i wrapped his 9" body in plastic, then into 2 plastic ziplocs, and taped it around, and froze his body.. when the other fish passed i buried them together in my yard..

their names were Hoover and Kirby, cuz they could suck that food down FAST..

wow.. its been almost 10 years and i find myself tearing up writing this.. *sniff*

yes, fish have emotions.. and depending on circumstances, sometimes they are family to us, too.
