Hello

Is it normal for all the mircobubbles the 280 throws out? I really dont like it becouse the water does not look clear. Any suggestions or maybe another type of HOB filter. I have a 20 gallon fish only.

Thankyou

Is the water level in the tank high enough so that the discharge lip is underwater? Are the impeller housing and strainer clean? Any of these conditions can cause bubbles. It's not an innate problem with this particular model, so a little troubleshooting is in order

The unit is brand new its been running for one day only. The water level is high the lip is underwater. Could it be becouse its new?

is it a new tank too? if so you will have microbubbles from filling the tank, the tank will be cloudy for a few days after filling the tank, ifyou have a waterfall effect you will cause bubbles andyou should raise the water level....i fill my tank until it is going to overflow....and then i add just a little bit mroe.

Yes, its a new tank. The tank was full for a couple of hours before i put the 280. (went to the store to buy it) no bubbles when i turned on the unit. The lip is fully underwater.

wait you said you had fish in the tank is this correct if so what fish and how many because it really is too soon to be stocking a tank that fast unless you seeded it with bacteria from another tank

and i love my Emporer 280 i have it on my 29g along with another filter

No fishes, just letting everyone know it will be a fish only tank. I have not started to cycle the tank yet. Also if I turn off the 280 all the micro bubbles go away.

I come from many years of saltwater tanks. A year ago I had bad run in with a coral (frogspawn) that put me in the hospital and almost lost my hand. Because of this I got rid of my tank that I put so much money I don’t want to remember LOL. The love of fish tanks got me to try my first freshwater tank. (Starting small) I have never used a HOB filter so I was thinking it’s the problem. I will be patient and see what happens after I cycle the tank. I will post back the results.
Thank you coach_z
