Escape-Proofing the Aquarium

walmart also has plastic canvas in the craft section...if you ask one of the customer "associates" in that section...if you can find one....I'm sure one would be able to show you where to find it. It's less than a dollar a sheet..or should be.

fiberglass screen and a dab of silicone and yes you're going to need a minimum of a 30 gallon tank for that bichir-Anne

You are going to need a bigger tank then a 30g for that bichir, i would say closer to 100g would be better.

why dont u use maybe mesh or screen material, it'll allow airflow and also block it off. And if ur worried about rust or anything use plastic screen/mesh material.

As I have explained on another post, this bichir is 3in long, and I DO have a MUCH larger tank that I am cleaning out for it, once it gets a bit bigger. (The tank is on my back porch as I type, drying in the sun, all it needs is to be resealed.)

And before anyone asks, yes, the tank is shallow (only 3ftx12inx16in), I know my fish needs oxygen. I did not use soap or the garden hose in any way. Yes, I am getting a canister filter. The only other thing in the tank will be a species of plecostomus that maxes out at 6-7 inches, the tank is large enough to support both, and currently, the plecostomus is at one inch. The water is changed often and both are fed balanced and varied diets. I have never had any problems with the fish in this tank.
