What's the proper etiquette for when there is a troll on the loose? I reported several threads to a moderator but, they don't seem to be on line at the moment. Should a warning thread be posted in that particular topic or should I just keep it to myself and not add fuel to the fire? I lean towards the second of the two . I still have some qualms though what if some other kid runs across this ? On the other hand though posting a warning more or less says," READ ME NOW," to some people. What do you guys think? :thud:

I don't know if there's any 'right' way to handle it. I'd say 1) politely post correct information if you disagree with anything the other person posted and specify why you disagree, 2) Politely PM the other person and voice your concerns, and 3) be patient and wait for the mods. Getting into a public flame war will only make things worse I think.

I agree with cgrabe on his way to deal with it, but I also don't think there is a laid out right way to handle it.

Oh trust me I would . This kids just being offensive and crude so. There really isn't much you can say to that.

I can assure you that politely PMing the person you are referring to would accomplish nothing .

This is not a matter of different opinions or disagreements, this person is indeed being rude, and intentionally flame inciting.

I say report the post and wait? (goes to report some posts)

Well apparently there are some posts I haven't read yet. I don't know who this is in reference to (yet), but in general there's usually the possibility that it's an honest misunderstanding/miscommunication that can be cleared up by PM. Most aren't openly malicious about it. But like I said, I haven't seen these particular posts yet.

Oh, cgrabe...please don't think my comment was necessarily directed at what you said! You're right, most of the time its a misunderstanding, but I had happened to see the posts I'm pretty sure max is referring to...and I can't see how it could be a misunderstanding....

Nope, leopardess there could be no misunderstanding . We've both probably reported the same thing. Looks like he's been banned so all is well.
I'm really careful who I call troll people are entitled to their onions etc, even if they are wrong ;) . Just not being rude, crude and generally uncalled for.
Oh to be 13 again :)
