etiquette question

troll? whats a troll? and seeing that hes banned, who was it?

A troll is a poster who makes posts for the purpose of getting attention. They tend to post inflammatory or incorrect information to 'troll' for lots of replies. The mark of a good troll is subtlety; a troll who knows what he's doing is nearly indistinguishable from a legitimate poster with an unpopular/incorrect opinion. That makes it very difficult to pin them down. The poster in question here probably couldn't define subtlety if you offered him a dictionary. He was just insulting.

classic... :D

Sorry, couldn't help but to post... after that... :D

Slip, there isn't a problem everything was handled very well by the mods. I was more or less wondering if a warning thread should be posted in extreme cases. The thing about that is it usually fuels the flames of trollery but, in extreme cases that might be better than someone stumbling onto something very bad. More or less I was just looking for opinions. I'm just glad we have some first rate billy goats ;) in house!

I think slip was being sarcastic after cleaning up the little troll mess?

Either way, "it" is gone:)

I gave him the full Monty :D perma ban.

The best way to handle these people is to do just as you did. Dont post anything refering to the poster. No matter what you post, it will only fuel the fire. We constantly check the boards and we are e-mailed when someone reports a post so we do get notified pretty quickly. I think I banned him only a couple of hours after the last post that he did.

Thanks, and please use the report post function. Its the best way to notify us.
