Can I run an external Iwaki pump after the Fluval FX 6?
This is for a small Koi pond with a waterfall feature. I am not sure if the pump on the FX6 will be enough for the waterfall.

I would try it without the pump first to see if it does what you want it to. If you add a pump, I would size it to match the FX6 flow as closely as possible. If you use a much larger pump, you'd effectively be restricting the inlet of the pump and may end up with cavitation issues. If the flows were matched appropriately I don't see why having a booster pump inline there would be an issue, but if the issue is that the overall output of the FX6 is not enough for an effective waterfall volume, then you're not going to fix it by doing this.

I have an FX6 and a separate water feature running from the same tank. I have both but one is not attached to the other. The FX6 is designed to get the flow it needs. A separate pump for your waterfall will give you control of the waterfall independent of the filter. I have a living wall above the tank with an 8' head and have tried several pumps over the years to get it to work exactly like I want it to. The FX6 has been in it's little spot since the beginning.
