ive noticed that my black phantom tetra's tail fades from dark black to light gray throughout the day. is this normal? he seems to be fine otherwise.
thanks.

So many fish can vary their colors, almost chameleon like - due to mood, health, fear, when they sleep, light, spawning, etc. Also, mant species fade as they age, while others become more brilliant. I have experienced the daily color changes with black skirts as you have described - I have also noticed that they tend to fade a bit in general as they get older. I wouldn't worry about it....

my fish seem to be faded at first when they've been in the dark. after the light has been on for a little bit their colors perk back up
