Hi guys!
I just got a fahaka puffer recently and I've heard a bunch of different variations on their size. I know that they can grow to be around 18 inches but I'm curious as to what the average size is for those in captivity. (I've heard everything from 6 inches to 18 inches.) Does anyone here have one and if so, can you tell me how big it is and how old it is? I know a lot depends on the tank size, water quality, and diet but I'd just like to get an idea of what everyone else has. Thanks!!

over a foot
and as a general rule, no tankmates. ive seen them with fast fish like Redtail Black Sharks but its not reccomended.

Yeah. I have mine in a tank all by itself. And yes, it is a fully freshwater puffer. :) They're pretty neat!

If you want to talk to some people who have kept and/or do keep them, go to www.thepufferforum.com. It also has profiles of various puffers, and I've found it to have the most accurate info around.
