I'm working on the plans for my canopy. The canopy will hold 2 110 VHOs, and 1 400watt MH. Should I use only one fan, or 2? At that , should I place the fan in back of the canopy, or on its side? And lastly, should I have air going into the tank, or taking the air out?

There are 2 fans in the canopy for my FO that has VHO lights. There are 3 in the reef canopy with MH. 2 push air in, one pulls air out. Pulling air out is worse for the fan--more humidity to condense on the blades. Still, I think replacing a fan every 2-3 years will be better than having the tank get too hot. So, I would probably go with 2, one in each direction, and plan on replacing one every now and then. Mine are placed on the back of the canopy--on either side for the pair, with the additional one in the middle for the reef setup.

cool, thanks orion, that's what I'll do.. By any chance, you know of good fans I should use? The ones I got now need replacement, and they are very loud. If you know of a place that sells them online, it would be great.

Thanks.. :)

There are lots of places that sell them--not sure on price, but sure for computer cooling fans--work great, and are pretty quiet. I can hear mine if I'm right next to them, but that's it.
