I am possibly the last person on the planet to to find out about this place, but I had to post anyway. Besides, I have posted my low oppinion of lfs here before so its only right I tell you about this one.
I only moved here to Buffalo,NY recently and hadn't found a fish store that was even 1/2 way decent. (1/2 way decent means they dont give out false information , they don't have dead fish in the tanks)
But yesterday, I found the nicest lfs I have ever seen!
THE FISH PLACE 141 Robinson
Road North Tonawanda,NY 14120 I don't know if they have a website. I think the owner May still trade on aquabid under name lottsofish, but that may be old info.
So many beautiful fish!
I didnt have as much time as I would have liked. They have hundreds of tanks. I saw Not One distressed looking fish! I did see fish that I haven't ever seen for sale before.
The man I spoke to mostly was Very knowledgable and thorough and really liked fish.
I asked another employee a question in passing and he actually said that he didnt know the answer! This is a Very good thing IMO.
If you are ANYwhere near here it is worth the trip. Under two hours from Toronto I'd think ;) . Pack a lunch, make a day of it. I will be going back next week..
This is a completely unsolicited rave, btw. and I don't care if you buy there or not, you should just go see it :dive2:

Great to hear! Must be a great find! :) There are a quite a few good fish stores here in the San Francisco Bay Area too, but I haven't been to one that sounds so good as the one you've described (but then again I haven't been too all of them, lol).

Yeah, that store is awesome. I go there whenever I am in Buffalo and take fish home with me on the airplane. I get some strange looks going through security :)

Yes he does still sell on aquabid under that name, and all I can say is that is one crazy awesome guy. His fish and plants are just amazing. One of the few LFS/wholesalers I would ever reccomend. He gets a ton of rare stuff in as well.

Well zazz, you have found IT! I know the owner very well. As a matter of fact we were friends before he even started the business. That's about 20 years ago. What you see is only about 1/4 of all his tanks. The others are downstairs in the wholesale department. The outside doesn't look like much but you can easily spend a few hours going through the 320 display tanks. Have fun!
