The true siamese algae eater (Crossocheilus siamensis). I got a couple and they decimated the algae in my tank. I had alot on my anubius. and on the glass. They ripped through it in no time and left the good plants alone. That and i think they look cool, and have alot of energy.

I like the SAE for their tireless work but like the way hillstream loaches look.

I like shrimp......they are fascinating to watch....and they never seem to stop eating...even after a major mishap like flipping out of the tank...flopping around on the floor while "Master" tries to scoop them up.......toss em back in and as soon as thier little feet hit the gravel..those mandibles start movin to the mouth ! Incredible !

All I'm familiar with so far are a Chinese Algae Eater (sold as SAE) who ate part of a fish, dunno 'bout the algae--returned for a snail; and my mystery snails, which have been great. I got a new one, though, and as it's tripled in size compared to its buddy in the past 5 weeks, I'd say it's an Apple snail (uh oh, there go the plants!!!) :thud:

otto, any one can properly house this one, most people can't evem dream of properly housing a pleco (becuase they usually buy the common pleco), some people are creaped out by snails(even though I like them). Otto is probably gonna win the vote, becuase of the reasons above and the fact that this pool is biased, in order to vote other you have to vote and post, too much work for some people, not many, but some.

I chose 'other' primarily because I like the bristlenosed catfish aka bushynosed ..generally considered a pleco(but in actuality it is a catfish)

I have one in my 75 and it would take a team of otos to clean a tank as well as she does..
I wish I could keep one in my 55 but with the parent angels and the bn's taste for fresh caviar..it's not a good combo..the angels have a tough time keeping this armored critter away from their eggs.

a team of oto's in a small tank do a bang up job tho.

My Rainbow Shark is doing a great job at keeping algae down. Better than any pleco.
