Snails, I have a few MTS, Common Ramshorn, and Common Pond snails that are slowly increasing in numbers. I like snails because they need virtually no care, just put them in and let them work. They are the only things that do a good enough job keepong the java moss carpet clean. Plus they do some very interesting things sometimes. Its especially funny when a 1 inch MTS tries to hitch a ride on another MTS 1/4 inch long!

My favorite are my plecos
I have albino and spotted bn
and a larger I bought as a common but he stayed only 8" great algae eater
I have brigs like them esp my purples
mts are cool but you have to be sure you want them once you have them theres no getting rid of them

I've only had experience with shrimp and snails, of which the better algae cleaner was the snail. However, I am looking forward to getting a pitbull pleco (only gets 2.5") and seeing if it helps with algae very well.

I just looked up the pitbull plecos as I have never heard of them before. Looks like my "rubberlip" pleco is actually a pit bull. I was wondering why it looked different from other rubberlips and has not grown past 2 inches in the 6 months I've had it...

Hah! That's pretty interesting. They sure are cool little guys. At first I couldn't believe that they were at their full length at 2"-2.5"!
