feather duster worm, in sand?

i was just looking around my tank and noticed a feather duster worm sitting on the sand feathers up, like it grew there? is this possable, well im guessing it is since there is one in my tank in the sand... so i guess i'll just ask a few other questions...

-how fast do they multiply?
-how do they multiply?
-is it common for them to go into the sand?
-is it normal?

any other information on them and their habbits would be great...

Featherduster worms are related to earth worms, and reproduce Aesexually (They basically clone themselves). They create the tube by a mucus secreation and they dont really move all that much, so if one was present on the sand or had to leave its original tube for whatever reason, they are not picky about where they live, so its common to find them on sand, rocks, and gravel while the smaller tube worms can also be on the aquarium glass, in filter sponges, in powerheads, as well as other places.
