Can you feed soft fruit/berries to fish? Strawberries/cherries/raspberries etc and how about wild berries that birds eat?

It's just that I've seen nature programs on TV shot in the amazon where fish gobble up berries & fruit that drop into the water from overhead trees.

Just a thought...

yes it is possible. there are many fish that would relish fresh fruit/berries. One thing to watch for is to not feed fish fruit that have seeds in them (such as raspberries, and strawberries) unless you plan on taking out the seeds out of them, a fish, eventhough they may be able to eat the seeds will not be able to digest them most likely and become impacted, and most likely die. Also another thing to remeber is that some fish are carnivorus and will not, generally, eat any plant life. Even some herbavorus/omnivorus fish will not eat some plant life. You will have to also be very careful what you feed your fish because I imagine that pesticides that are put on most fruit and veggies could harm/kill your fish. And for wild fuit, you will have to be very careful of what you feed, because some berries that you will find in the wild are poisonous. All that being said, some fish prefer vegitables to fruit any day, you'll just have to try out different things to see what they like.

Make sure you fish is more of an omnivore or herbivore if you do feed them fruits or veggies. Some fish won't get nearly as much benefit out of fruits or veggies as they will from live animal food.
