Right now I have a common pleco that I will be returning to my lfs when i get a chance. My tank isnt big enough and I already have a monsterous poop machine, i dont need 2. I am thinking about getting a gold nugget(if I can find one) in his place. If I cant find a gold nugget or they are too expensive i will probably get a bristlenose. I looked at a few online fish stores and I would love to get an exotic cool looking pleco but the shipping is just too much to pay on top of the actual cost of the fish. I like plecos I think they are cool fish and i would like to have one but I really want to be able to feed it a balanced diet. Right now I am trying to get my common to eat zucchini and cucumbers but he doesnt bother with them at all. I have been strapping pieces to a piece of driftwood and he eats around them. I throw algae wafers in at night also but I doubt he gets many of them because my oscar likes them as well.

My question is how can I get them to realize that this stuff is food? I basically just cut off a piece about a half an inch to an inch thick and strap it somewhere, which has been unsucessful so far. I appreciate any help anyone can give me! Thank you.

It may just take him some time to figure out it is food.I feed mine at lights out and blanch the zucchini. The garlic idea is good one that jink's suggested.I had one pleco that it took a few feedings for him to even touch it but now he is on it before you can even get your hand out of the tank.

Thanks for the replies I will keep trying. When I got up this morning it looked like the pleco might have had a little of the cucumber last night but I couldnt tell. When I turned on the lights he was sitting right under it on the driftwood. I removed it and he immediatly went to where it was strapped to the driftwood and went to town so i think he likes the taste of them.
