i was wondering if it is ok to feed Oscars ham every once in a while as a treat. I use very small pieces about half the size of dime. The ham is advertised as being 98% lean. Is it ok to do this if so how often is it ok to do it. thanks

mammal fats really aren't so good for fish, plus ham tends to have a lot of salt, preservatives, and added nitrates and other chemicals that aren't great for people, let alone your oscar. if you want to give him a treat, i would get some nightcrawlers from a bait shop, or some shrimp.

I believe the question of feeding ham to Oscars came up before, and it was the consensus of the membership that Oscars eat kosher....

Both of mine have Razr V3 phones. They are at opposite ends of the house and on different levels.:coffee2:

No ham....sticky with fishy foods.

what is with you people. seems everybody with an oscar wants to feed it ham, frankfooters, canned tuna, hamburger and who knows what all else. this is a FISH for gods sake .. feed it fish food.

lol just what i was thinking.. people eat people food and fish eat fish food.

uh-oh, I can see where this is going to lead...
since people also eat a fish's fishy food....

:dance::dance::dance:

yah, but people also eat cows .. do cows eat people? ;) i want to see a fish in the wild eat a pig (ham) or a cow (hamburger).

fish have sense. people have no sense at all. :)

I've seen Oscars and jags eat just about anymeat you throw at them. Tis a shame.
