What is the standard rule of thumb for feeding fish? I feed my fish every other day. I see some people feed their fish twice a day... I always thought that would be too much. When feeding I generally put in some flakes and then I drop 2 pellets right in front of the shark and then a wafer for my pleco.

Generally you just want to feed them as much as they will eat in about 2 minutes, as often as they'll eat that 2 minute batch. This mimicks the natural feeding process, where they see a food source, gulp it down instantly, and don't see food for another several days.

I used to do this once per day, but once every 2 days isn't so bad. Fish don't need much food, esp if the temperature is closer to 70F than 80F.

Thanks brendanh, I think I will keep feeding them the way I am. The tank seems nice and clean and the fish seem happy. I just wanted to make sure that I'm not torturing the fish by not feeding them every day.
