I bought two Fiddler Crabs today which are currently in a temporary tank while I set-up their permanent home. I was curious to know if anyone else keeps these, and if so, how their tanks were set-up? I wasn't particularly fond of how their tank was set-up at the store, it was mostly water with only driftwood branches sticking out here and there for the crabs to get out of the water on. I haven't come across specific land:water ratios, but I was hoping I could have more of a land area for my crabs than that. If not, it's no big deal... I mean, they seemed just fine as they were in that tank, it's just not my favorite idea of something to replicate in terms of decoration.

The tank setup in the petstore was okay. They are pretty easy to keep.
You'll need a 5-10 gallon tank that has half land half water and you can keep a few of them. Really ok pets. :)

That sounds interesting

I just set up a fiddler crab tank over the past few days. I did lots of research beforehand. I got the crabs last night and they seem to be doing fine in the setup they have.

Click below to view the blog I wrote on how I set it up. There are lots of pics.

Hope this helps!!

Oh, that helps a lot! That the general idea I was hoping I could do. When I was looking up information on them, I got a lot of mixed information (#1 being that they could be kept in freshwater indefinitely, bah). But the guys at LFS said I should just replicate what they had when I asked them about it, meh. Great, thanks so much!
