Filter for 55G

I'll be getting a 55G at around April.

Would an AC 70 and a Penguin BIO-Wheel 350 cause too much current for the fishes? They will be small community fishes (eg: small tetras, small livebearers, cories, etc...).

h3d: The penguin 350 comes with the kit for $280, I'm not sure, but it seems like it... or maybe it's the Penguin 200. I have to look into that.

I have a 350 Penguin on my 55 gallon no problem at all maybe the first day or two after it was running a few days and the bio-wheels became more saturated there is not as much current at all.
 
corykid: It's the Marineland 55G aquarium starter kit from the LFS near my house. It has two 24" canopies with one 18" 15W flourescent bulb for each canopy. It has all the other accessories that all kits usually have (net, sample food, thermometer, etc...) except for the heater... If that's the kit that you have, then I'm happy with the filter that it comes with it :) If it's the Penguin 200, I'll be equally happy as I'll still be getting an AC70 :)

Smallfishi: that's good... that will be give it time to cycle (hopefully, with common guppies, or if I'm lucky enough to find it, pure ammonia)

nope you can even go bigger on your filter system.
 
My 55 gallon marineland that came with the 350 also came with a heater it was a dual temp it was bunk and didnt' work very well very stressful luckily I could make do with my 100 watt visi-therm for a few hours to take it back.
I got some money back and bought a more expensive Jager one, they don't even sell the one that comes in the kit individually because it was so crap.
My opinion of course I'm sure loads of people love it.. :)
