Hi,
I am setting up a 3 gallon, planted tank with a couple shrimp (and perhaps one or two additional small organisms). The tank has a hood that closes completely flush, so to me it doesn't seem like a hang on filter is an option (?). I would love a heater/filter combo, but its not necessary. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hagen makes an "Elite mini' internal filter for up to 3 gallon tanks. Takes up a bit of space inside the tank, but it's doable if a HOB filter isn't an option. Also, because it's internal, this filter doesn't create surface agitation, so it doesn't cause C02 loss (better for the plants).

I'd opt for a small sponge filter like a hydro-sponge 0 or 1 myself. I just received a dozen from www.kensfish.com actually.... The sponge will be less likely to suck up the shrimp or any babies if they will breed (depends on the type of shrimp as to whether you'll have babies or not). Plus, the sponge will collect any extra foods and the shrimp can pick off of it. Kyle
