Although I was not interested in buying one, I was looking at an Aqua Tech filter at walmart and I noticed that in very small print on the bottom of the box it says manufactured by marineland. Has anyone else ever noticed this?

I had not noticed it, but it doesn't surprise me. Many manufacturers sell their product, indentical in construction, with different labeling and names. Occasionally they may change the quality of a particular part or the warranty offered.

I think marineland also makes the regent products at wallmart. I have some of there carbon in the exact same container as marineland premium blah blah carbon even the labels are quite similar.

I bought an aqua tech 5-15 in an emergency situation. Then the filter it was replacing got fixed (because I learned how to "prime" the "broken" one...). I was left with an unused filter... so I used it as an excuse to get another aquarium :) and now have a 6 gal and a 10

Oh, and the aqua tech is working fine, as far as I can tell. All the fish look/act happy.

I have the aqua-tech 20-40, and it is exactly the same as the bio-wheel filter, only without the wheel. I got some spare parts from a friend and the bio-wheel fit perfectly.

Also the aqua-tech aquarium kits are exactly the same as eclipse systems, the only difference being that they are 20 bucks cheaper.

this is true. I recently bought the aqua-tech hex, exactly the same as the eclipse 5G hex except it come with an incandescent lightbulb instead of a CF like the eclipse does. it's also about $40 cheaper.

I buy the cheaper aqua-tech filter cartridges and put them in my penguin minis. Same design, just one has a bio wheel and the other a bio filter pad

I had a Regent 20 gallon HOB filter from Wal-Mart. I used it for more years than I can remeber. It was a great little filter. The only reason I got rid of it is because I am upgrading my tanks and needed something larger. I love Wal-Marts pricing!
