Hey everyone,
I currently have 2 oscars and a Red Pacu in a 29 gallon tank. I know what your thinking...they need a much bigger tank; your right! A friend of mine is willing to give me a 300 gallon tank and since we are moving i will finally have room for it. My quesion is: What is the best filtration system to use. I am looking at canister filters but i am not sure how many GPH i will need. If someone has any idea, please respond or send me an email. Thank-you

i think you will need a large sump. i would search around the internet for DIY instructions

i don't think you will be able to do it with canister filters but who knows they might make a really huge one i don't know about.

the rule of thumb for community fish is 10 gph(rated not full of media, etc.) per gallon ie i have a 200gph filter on a 20 gallon tank

so you'll need 3000 gph but you have messier fish so you'd need more, but if you keep it stocked lightly and don't add a bunch of fish to those you already have you'd most likely be alright with 3000

good luck!

yup sump is prob best.
