DON'T GET THE Seaclone Protein Skimmer unless you're ready for a big pain in the butt without modifications and billions of micro bubbles in your tank, yes i know there are mods. that "help", but pay alittle more for a decent skimmer, do a lot of researching before you decide to go with the seaclone skimmer.:headshake2:

you could hit up craigslist and find stuff like the tank and pump a little cheaper I found a 80G set up for 50 bucks and i found a pump for 40 (looked up pump retails for 300 bones) the deals are out there. But other than that if you want to get all new stuff looks good. dont forget to factor in test kits salts and water costs.

I would not buy the filter and get 55 or over pounds of liverock. Since your in the USA you can get tons of stuff online. The filters are a pain in the arse cause you will have to clean the media every week when you change water, and have to replace it frequently.

I would check the quality of the liverock cause it is only $2.50/pound. You can make an awesome shroom tank with the PC lighting.

I run the RENA on my brackish tanks but be aware it's useless if you dont clean it regularily, if you decide to keep it invest in a second set of media so you can just swap bi weekly (I do every other saturday) and clean the old media. Otherwise it's not only a waste of money but it'll end up being more troublesome that you want it to be (nice nitrate trap!). The extra flow is a nice tradeoff and another reason to keep the thing clean.

After deliberating keeping a rena on my nano fairly recently I decided to switch to an aquafuge, when the refugium gets nice and cycled I plan on removing the rena and placing it on another brackish tank, definately consider more LR and a good sump or hang on back refugium instead. The aquafuge2 will run a touch more but from what I've seen in differences myself it's worth it! (I like canisters and everyone tells me they're bad... but in the case of my SW rig... I wholly agree the refugiums a better way to go)

Ok but what good cheap skimmer can i get

you dont want a cheap skimmer cuz they are junk. you want to spend a little more on the skimmer and get a quality piece then you won't regret it! hehe. I use a CoralLife Super Skimmer. It's pretty good and I like it. Easy to clean and adjust. Others may be better but I haven't used them so I couldn't comment.

I also was running a super skimmer on my old 55 gallon and i LOVED it, skimmed great, would recommend that for the "cheaper" skimmers.
