For my sisters 55 gallon. Went over the suggested fish with her lastnight annd here is what we came up with.

1 Gold Severum
1 Firemouth
1 Bristlenose Pleco
3 Silver Dollars

So watcha think? Sound like a plan? Thanks to everyone who offered their suggestions.

That'll work fine; she'll have a pretty calm tank with enough activity to make things interesting. FWIW, however, I've avoided silver dollars because they get so darn big after a while (and they're shaped like the sev).

My preference for your 55 would be the pleco, sev, and firemouth, along with a honduran red point (small with a nice blue color), and then a school of rosy barbs; the males are a nice red color, they are very active swimmers, they shoal from side to side, and they tend to stay up high in the tank. That would give you a nice mix of colors, good activity, and be more stable over time (imo). Your idea works fine, however.

She's thinking about a Festivum instead of the FM. Thoughts?

Personally? Firemouth; much better looking, imo.

How about:
1 Gold Sev.
4 Angels
2 Festivum
1 Cory Cat

I just say that becuase I kept that stocking list for a few years and I loved it.

sounds like a good stocking plan, but i would add some more crydoras to 1) keep them all happy and 2) help clean up after the "big fish" of the tank

Hi,

Cories are very social fish and should never be kept alone. They should be kept in groups of three and more.
