Well i just removed my damsel and now i currently have only a small percula clown. I am thinking of adding the following:

1 percula(already in tank)
1 scooter blenny or red spotted blenny
1 royal garamma
and maybe a mate for the percula

My question is will these fish get along also what order should i add these fish? I was thinking scooter blenny or red spotted blenny then the garamma? What do u guys think thanx in advance:) Gotta love stocking the tank so fun :D

What size tank are you talking about? Sounds like a good mix for about a 29 gallon.. Anything smaller than that and I'd reduce my list to 1 or 2 of those fish at most...

As for the fish, I see no clashes in that mix, though the percs MIGHT have some beefs when you first introduce the new one... Percs are pretty easy going compared to other clowns, like say a Maroon or a Tomato, but they can get a little nippy with new mates...

good move on getting rid of the damsel, very few make good tank mates and the ones that do, like Chromis for example, ate like the saltwater equivelant to a molly or a platy... Boring and jsut there to fill space... I LOVE Blue Velvet damsels, but the darn things are just too mean =\ Might do ok in a predatory FO tank, but not a community or reef...

Another fish you might wanna consider in about a year is a Mandarin fish... They feed EXCLUSIVELY (except in rare instances) on copepods which are little bugs that grow on your live rock and in the sand... These bugs take a long time to become established well enough to support a Mandarin but once they are, a Mandarin will thrive... I've had one for about 8 months and I LOVE to watch him =) He reminds me of Watto from Star Wars E1, fluttering around on those little wings (fins, but the look like wings...) Read up on them, then read some more cuz they can waste away in a tank without sufficient food...

good luck!

Hey RaVenCad i remember reading a thread about this great hood design you had. But anyway ya its a 30 gallon tank. By the way i would LOVE to get a mandarin fish. Do you think it would get along with the scooter blenny, the garamma, and the pair of percs. I would think i would add it last because i would need to wait for the tank to get established. Do you think i could have 5 fish in this tank? or should i take the mandarin and scrap the mate for percula clown? Also would the mandarin be okay getting added last to the tank? Thanx again for the replys you guys.:)

First off, yep RaVen had an awesome hood design. (speaking of which... Where's the second version Raven?? ;) ) If you are thinking of getting a mandarin, Then I would add in 1-2 basslets insead of your scooter. That way your tank will have more activity, you can put a scooter in with a mandarin, but then you looking at having 2 fish that move around very little. I would personnaly scrap the idea of the perc mate for a 30g. And yes, your Mandarin will do fine being the last addition.. Plus, you really don't have a choice in the matter, you want to realy mature your tank before adding him in...

Thanks for the hood compliment, I put a lot of work into that and it's nice to be apreciated heheh As for version 2, it's still floating in my mind... I'll get to it, someday... I'm about to mod my current to be a 1 piece lid to accomodate a couple 96w CFs instead of the halides... Tired of the heat and fan noise and I don't truly need em cuz the whole reef look lost its gloss to me... FOWLR and some inverst works for me, and don't require all those watts =)

As for the mandy, maybe I'm just darn lucky but my guy moves all the time... He hunts on the rocks and even on the front glass... He stares are you as you walk past! Marvelous fish... Is mine an anomoly or sumthin?

Good to see ya back bro ;)

Well, I've ended up building four of them. (all for 125g tanks)I have found a way to adjust the height on them for better front access (anywhere from 8-12" front doors while using good ol' 1x6's).. other then that I've seen very few things that can be improved on..

I would put anywhere from 45-50lbs for a good seed.. They also have copepod kits that are available online to help seed your tank..Put the two togather, and you will have a nice base to start off on when you get your mandarin..
