Congrats! Can't wait for pics! Any info on the tank they will be going in? Size? Tankmates? Filtration? Pics?

Congrats :D

You should have waited a bit longer :). They should be offering Rio Atabapo Altums in September. Their current stock are from other rivers. Heiko claims the Atabapos are the best looking. Others say in the end, when grown, they all look the same. I will test this as I have had 8 for over a year and a half now.

If you are not familiar with what it takes to keep newly imported wild altums alive, I suggest you join this site and do some fast reading on their forums http://www.finarama.com/ Thie site has some of the best wild angel info i have seen.

two tanksAmin.. already a member there
matter of fact was suggested from someone there to go to HAW
the qt is a 29 with RO/DI and peat to lower pH..my pH is already 6.8 from the tap with kh3-4 gh 7-8

I'll be keeping the temp up around 84f
eventually the Altums if they make it will be moved to a 75

as to waiting.. last time I did that I missed out completely ;)

Congrats!

Star- do you have a UV sterilizer as well? I just got one for the Atabapos I hope to nab next month.

two tanks.. yes I do setting it on the tank today

HAW has been pretty good at communication.. their Altums are kept pH 6.4-6.8 tds 80- EC112 they do recommend lower pH and suggest slow acclimation to low pH(of course)
I am running peat in my filter on the 20 with ro/di with UV set up tonite..
will check pH tonite ..I smell like peat moss today..not my idea of cologne ;)
