 Wow! I love it! This should be under a thread like, "Decorating your aquarium on a budget!" I really like what you've done, I have often thought of using terra cota but never new if it was aquarium friendly. Good job!!

Thanks!

I personally would have never thought of it myself, but I saw a pic of another aquarium decorated with it, but it wasn't as lavish. I took some and broke them while others I cut holes in for the fish to swim in and out of like tunnels, they seem to really like it! I added a few live plants, but mostly fake that I found cheap. I was so proud because within about 30 minutes of putting my fish in the tank..........they were actually eating! I've never seem fish eat that quickly after being placed in a new tank!

Between my decorations and 13 fish.......I spent about $100.00. I think that's pretty darn good myself.........

Looks pretty nice. The pots look like great hiding spaces for the fish. I don't personally care that much but i know theres going to be somebody on this forum that is going to give you hell for buying those painted glass fish.

that is a cool setup man!! especially the big pot good place for the fish to hide   :dance2: :dance2:

wow.. i just noticed those werent real fish.. hmm very nicly done lol

What?

Actually they are real fish.........I'm not sure why they look fake, but I promise they're real............strange........

They're real, but they're "painted". The fish are injected with dye as babies. I think the survival rate for the dye injections are like 10% or less.

The dye will fade with time and they won't stay that color. It's not the natural color of the fish.

Beautiful! You did a nice job. I love the look of terra cotta.

Your fish are glass fish that have been injected with dye, hence the name 'painted' glass fish. That's why they look 'fake' in the picture. Most fish folks won't buy them because the color is injected with a needle- seems cruel. The color will also fade away over time. I'm sure you didn't realize what you were getting. Fish stores don't tell you about it.

Those guys are really beautiful though - just take good care of them!

WOW, now I'm ready to redecorate with flower pots!

Don't know what to think....

Wow, I had no idea..........guess I just proved that I'm new at this...........if I had known, I would have never bought them. My husband picked them out and I thought they were pretty cool looking but I can't imagine allowing someone to inject anything into a poor fish...............I feel terrible now............I think maybe I will return them and find something else, that's a bit cruel....

Anyhow, I'm glad you guys explained that to me, I guess this place has helped more than I thought it would. Thanks everyone..........I just feel so stupid now........... :duh:
