my firebelly toads dont make noises, yet anyways...i have 3,one is rounded bigger then the others and im pretty sure its a male but i cant tell what the other two are. i only got them last week...anyone know how old they have to be to be able to breed, and also what setup you should have in order to get them to lay eggs? right now i have a 15 gallon with moss and a big bowl with about 2 inches of water in it. I'm also using one 15W moonlight bulb and one 15W sun glo bulb and i have a plant in the corner for them to hide in if they want to.

They are also all brown and havent changed color since i got them, anyone know if they still might change to a lighter green colour?

ps. i once heard one make a noise when i was holding him,i think he was scared

there thats everything i ment to say so dont read whats up top,also...how do you edit your threads/messages? haha

Boys will make noise almost everynight if their happy. I dont think theres a specific season because mine did it all fall, winter, and now spring. Yes females are rounder than males. If you have boys they will be kind of agressive in grabbing onto other ones in the water, girls will never grab onto one. If youve never seen any of them grab onto another one I doubt you have males because it doesnt take much to please them and make them want to mate. You will want an almost all water set up with filter, some say you will only get eggs if the water is running, but I dont know how true this is. Give them a few monthes, after only a week I doubt you will hear any noices, their still settling in. Girls will make noise sometimes, so when you picked it up, it could have been a girl or boy, girls just dont CALL like males do. I would trash the moss and make it an aquatic set up, no water bowl. They spoil the water FAST and they enjoy the aquatic set up A LOT more, and they try to mate more. When I had them in your kind of set up, I only heard calling every now and then, but in the new vivarium set up they call every night.

thanks a lot,i still have the price tag on the bottom of the bowl so i think i might bring it back and get a filter instead haha

Lol sounds good, also you would not be enjoying all the water changes! Therse a lot of tanks on here that will give you an idea of how the water set ups are...set up lol

i have another question,my toads are all dark brown right now but id rather them turn their lighter color green. iv had them for 6 days now and they havent changed yet...someone told me it might be the moonlight/blackight im using, could that be true?...also appearantly because their not happy

nope nobody knows why they change color. They could stay brown forever, you may have gotton the brown species. They just change whenever, their happiness i dont think changes their color because my older male changes colors all day long
